2025 Golden Acorn Award Recipients

The Golden Acorn Award honors individuals whose volunteer work benefits the entire school community, not just their own child. Recipients demonstrate exceptional dedication and service that positively impacts the school as a whole, supporting students, teachers, and families. Awardees receive a certificate, a Golden Acorn pin, and a donation in their name to the Washington State PTA Scholarship Program. To nominate someone, contact awards@normanrockwellpta.org.

Terri Edgar

For over 30 years of dedicated service to Rockwell—filling nearly every PTA role, from President to Events Chair, and always giving her time with heart and humility. For creating the annual gift card drive that quietly supports dozens of families each year, and for continuing to show up daily to volunteer, substitute, and lend a helping hand. For a legacy of service, compassion, and unwavering commitment to our community.

Lani Lum

For years of quiet dedication behind the scenes—producing school plays and musicals, creating our yearbook, managing membership, and serving as communications VP. For being the first to respond when help is needed, tirelessly and generously giving her time and talents as an art docent, room parent, field trip chaperone, and PTA board member. For always getting things done without seeking recognition.

Janet Vuong

For leading with energy and dependability—always the first to sign up, the last to leave, and the one who makes it all look effortless. For ensuring Rockwell students have incredible enrichment opportunities, from STEAM Night to the return of the Spelling Bee, while also juggling countless details with grace. For being the steady, cheerful force we can always count on.

2025 Outstanding Educator Award Recipients

The Outstanding Educator Award recognizes individuals who make a meaningful impact on students’ educational experiences. Eligible recipients include teachers, assistants, specialists, support staff, administrators, or community members. Awardees receive a certificate, a pin, and a donation in their name to the Washington State PTA Scholarship Program. This award honors dedication to creating a supportive and enriching learning environment for all students.

Irene Chen

For eight years of inspiring leadership in the LWSD orchestra—guiding students from Rockwell, Clara Barton, Redmond, Mann, and Einstein with dedication and heart. For her tireless commitment, from early mornings and concert preparation to fostering a love of music that will last a lifetime. For enriching our community beyond orchestra through choir leadership and special events, Ms. Irene Chen is truly extraordinary.

Liz Finocchio

For caring deeply for each of her students—thoughtfully reflecting on their needs, monitoring both their academic and emotional growth, and offering encouragement every step of the way. She continually praises their efforts, challenges them to improve, and goes above and beyond in her devotion. Her commitment to her students is both inspiring and extraordinary.

Each year, the Heart of Rockwell Award honors those who quietly, consistently, and wholeheartedly go above and beyond. This is someone who pours love, care, and dedication into our school community in ways both big and small—lifting spirits, supporting students, and strengthening our Rockwell family. To be the Heart of Rockwell means embodying the values and traits we aspire to: compassion, commitment, and a genuine passion for making our school a better place for everyone.

Rose Brundritt

For quietly stepping in wherever there’s a need—updating the reader board, smoothing out the drop-off line, or ensuring students have food to start their day. For reviving the school dance with unforgettable energy and joy, and for leading without titles through steady presence, kindness, and action. For being the humble, behind-the-scenes force that holds Rockwell together, Rose is truly the Heart of Rockwell.

Clarisa Tuluca

For the countless ways she quietly supports our students—whether it’s microwaving lunches, watching over recess, or making sure every child feels cared for. For stepping up to nurture baby salmon, produce the school play, and lend a hand at every event from STEAM Night to the Ice Cream Social. For leading with heart, generosity, and dedication, Clarisa truly embodies the Heart of Rockwell.
