An after-school program designed to improve confidence in public speaking skills available to 1st - 5th grades.

Students learn through interactive games and fun activities how to stand out in a crowd, craft a message, improvise, and overcome fears. A final interactive presentation is given to family and friends.

Parents must chaperone at least one session per PTA Guidelines. Coordinator to set up a schedule after registration.

Ellipsis Academy provides math enrichment for students through programs that foster excellence in fundamental math skills, problem solving, and critical thinking in a fun and enjoyable way. We discuss math topics that complement and enhance students' classroom curriculum. We also give students to opportunity to compete and represent their school at various math competitions.

Spring Musical

The PTA in partnership with Youth Theatre Northwest presents a spring musical. Rockwell’s 4th and 5th graders will perform live, on-stage at the Redmond Performing Arts Center. Registration is limited to 50 cast members, first come, first serve.

UPDATE: Registration for the school musical will open Feb 1, 2018 with the final deadline for registration on Feb 15, 2018. Registrations in excess of the first 50 students will be placed on a wait list. All students will be contacted directly to confirm receipt of their forms and fees. At that time, students will be informed if they are cast members or have been placed on the wait list. Students on the wait list will have their status confirmed once again on March 1st. Registration fees will be returned to students on the wait list.

Auditions for specific role assignments will be conducted Feb 26th-28th and are mandatory to continue participation in the musical.

An after-school program designed to encourage spelling skills and support students interested in national competition for 1st - 5th grade.

The club has all of their information including practice word lists, schedules, worksheets and FAQ on-line. Additionally, mock bees for practice are held at the school.

Enrichment

Art Docent

A school-hours program designed to supplement art instruction on a monthly basis developed by the Seattle Art Museum.

Parent Art Docents provide monthly, in-class artt instruction to students and display the students' artwork at the annual Art Showcase in May. Curriculum and all supplies are provided, as well as an orientation/training in September.

Each classroom needs at least one parent Art Docent but most classes have more. Art Docents sign up for this position with the classroom teacher at Curriculum Night.

The PTA provides information, suggested curriculum by grade, training, and guidance. Art Docents work directly with the Classroom Teacher to schedule and plan the art lessons for the year. Art Docents must complete the LWSD Volunteer application and approval process prior to being in the classroom.

Each year, the school selects the supplemental on-line math program which will be used to support at-home math learning.

**2017-2018 Update Principal Clark is in the process of selecting the supplemental math program for this year. Further announcements will come through the Principal's Bi-Weekly Newsletter and the Bugle Newsletter.

Parent volunteers track participation in on-line math supplemental programs and distribute prizes monthly based on the cumulative skills completed to all grades.

Questions or comments regarding the selected math program should be directed to the classroom teacher or principal.

Reflections Art Competition

A district, state and national level judged art show for all students and grades. Students have the opportunity to create original works in several categories including dance/choreography, music composition, literature, film production, photography and visual art. Students may submit in more than one category. Selected pieces will be displayed at Rockwell, in the LWSD area and in Washington state.

This special event takes place during school hours (most likely in October) for our 4th and 5th grade classes. Volunteers help host various stations, which provide different opportunities for students to increase awareness and gain a glimpse into what their peers with disabilities may experience. Many of the students and staff have appreciated this event and learn so much.

Patrol school grounds 8-8:30am. Greet families and be available for conflict resolution and enforcing school rules (no running on the blacktop, can not play on equipment, stand in line respectfully). Carry a walkie talkie and wear a patrol vest to indentify yourself. Be a mentor, role model and friendly face to start the day!
