Monday & Wednesday After School Art Classes!

Art for Kids School will be offering after school art classes at Norman Rockwell Elementary for the Winter 2016 semester. Because of the great interest in these classes, spaces in the classes will be chosen by a drawing from those who have submitted registration forms.

Register for the lottery online here. You may also print out a hard copy registration form and turn it in to the Art for Kids mailbox in the office.

There will also be a limited number of hard copy forms in the office.

These are ongoing classes, open to new and returning students, and projects are not repeated. Children will have an opportunity to explore their creativity through a variety of materials including pen and ink, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, clay, and plaster. Drawing techniques are incorporated in these classes as well as painting and sculpting techniques. Classes will be taught by a professional, degreed artist.

Classes will take place after school on Monday from 3:10-4:10pm (ages 5-8), 4:25-5:25pm (all ages) OR Wednesday from 1:45–2:45pm (ages 5–8), 3:00–4:00pm (ages 9–12), and 4:15–5:15pm (all ages). The Winter 2016 semester begins the week of January 4, 2016 and continues through the week of June 6, 2016. Please note a commitment is required for the entire semester. There is a single, one-time payment of $237.50 (Mon.) & $275(Wed.) plus a $5 registration fee. All supplies are included (with the exception of $30 bronze casting fee).

These art classes are in great demand. We are having a lottery to determine participants in the classes. The schedule for signing up is:

Sunday 12/6 - Online lottery sign up closes
Monday 12/7 at 3:05 PM – If you did not sign up for the lottery through the PTA website, hard copies of sign-up form (available online) must be received by the PTA in the Art for Kids mailbox in the office.
Wednesday 12/9 by 3:00 PM – The parents/guardians of the students selected for the available spaces will be notified via e-mail of their selection. If a student does not win a space in the lottery, they will be given the choice of attending an alternate class time that is not full (if any); the alternate class would be filled on a first-come first-served basis.
Saturday 12/12 at noon – It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to register and pay for the AFK class (http://www.artforkidsschool.com/) by noon on Saturday 12/12 for the students who win the lottery. Your student's space must be paid for online through the Art for Kids website (http://www.artforkidsschool.com) by noon Sat. 12/12. If payment is not received by Art for Kids by Sat. 9/19, then the space will go to the next child on the waiting list for that class. Late payment will mean that your child will not be allowed to take the class.
Friday 12/18 at 12:00noon – Deadline for registration for students signing up for an alternate class time or the waiting list students, if notified of space availability.

Once you have been notified that your child has been selected in the lottery, please visit www.artforkidsschool.com to enroll your child. Complete the online registration form and submit the payment to secure a space for your child. Registration is available online only. The lottery notification e-mail will provide more information on payment. *NOTE: If your student is in a class, one parent/guardian MUST volunteer to be at the school during at least one art class during the semester for each student attending an AFKS class. This is required under the PTA program rules.. Volunteering parents are required to have completed a Lake Washington School District Volunteer Background Check.
